Trip to Maymont May 1st

Well we headed to Maymont on May 1 to meet with our homeschool group. The girls and I rode with one our friends, Laura and her three girls. It was a beautiful day to go and the sun was out. No rain for a change!! It was a little breezy but it was wonderful being out, especially with friends. We had a picnic there and then toured the grounds starting with the petting zoo. The kids really liked the animals but not too fond of the smells they give off. After this we went down the paths that led to the wild animals. We saw horses(not wild), a bear, who looked like he wanted to come right out of the caged surroundings, a vulture, and fox-stunk like a skunk! There were also some cows I think, can't remember. Boy, I must be getting old! The kids climbed up some of the embankments and had fun. It was nice exercise for all of us. It is amazing how far you can go and then you hear children say how tired they are. They have more energy than we do. It just amazes me. I guess it is just a sign that they are bored and ready to leave! Just my theory. Oh, we made our own discovery. As you will see we found a teeny tiny turtle. Most of the kids wanted to hold it. Most of them got the chance do it before we let him go. All in all in was a great day and the kids got to see their friends.
